(I-AutoNewsWire.com, March 03, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- While first class and early boarding, and hotel suites may be a nice luxury whilst heading out on vacation, nothing will raise eyebrows like getting a Ferrari or a Bentley to try out on the next trip to your favorite destination. The trend of doing just that has started to rise.
Luxury-car rental are growing rapidly, and for some individual, you do not have to spend muhc more than for a fully-sized sedan. Enterprise Rent-a-Car who often focuses on lower-end marketing, has expanded its own “Exotic Car Collection” to 13 separate locations in six states. The most recent addition is Houston, Texas and Naples, Flordia. Hertz Corporation says that its own rentals of luxiry-vehicles has growin 15% between the last two years.
Last month, a new startup titled Silvercar began renting silver Audi A4s exclusively with a current price starting at $55 per day.
Travis Scoggin of Austin, Texas, is an advertising director who decided upon Silvercar on a trip to see a client in Dallas area early in the year. He stated that the Audi was not only fun to drive, but connected with his iPhone instantly, making his music library fully accessible to him, as well as the digital assistant Siri.
"When you're getting ready for a big meeting, you rev yourself up in the head. You want to look nice, feel nice and the car helped amplify that," said Mr. Scoggin.
Steve Short, the vice president of Enterprise Vice, stated that the exotic cars do bring in a wide customer base that ranges from insurance companies to car dealerships that are interested in loaners. Movie studios are also on tap for being loaned the stylish vehicles.
Customers who are typically in for more budget-minded cars will sometimes decide to take part in the luxury and splurge for bigger occasions. For others, spending $1,000 for a Porsche may simply satisfy a life-long bucket-list fantasy.
"They see a Jaguar for $225 and they'd rather drive that than the Camry,'' said Adam Belsky, Enterprise's group sales and marketing manager for the Exotic Car Collection in Los Angeles.
