There are certainly varying reasons for the lack of insurance. NewYorkMotorInsurance.com has now released an infograph that shows the statistics regarding uninsured motorists, and the totals may surprise some.
Across the United States, one out of every seven individuals are without proper auto-insurance, and that prompts an annual costs of well over $10 billion for those who are insured that are in accidents with such persons. That is quite a large number total for a group that only comprises of 14% of the total accidents. It turns out that cars that have been manufactured in the last 15 years are accountable for 60% of the accidents within the United States.
Many stated that they cannot afford insurance as their reason for not taking care of their responsibility. Many of the most expensive states, as far as auto insurance is concerned, is those who live in the Northeast. Connecticut, Maryland, Rhodes Island, New York, and New Jersey all make the list of top 10 most expensive. Washington DC, Louisiana are the top two most expensive, however, at $1,126 and $1,105 per year, respectively.
Curiously, the none of the most most expensive states have the highest percentage of uninsured motorists, according to the infographic. Mississippi has the dubious honor of the highest lack of insured drivers, topping out at 26% total. Alabama and California take second place with a quarter of all drivers not being insured. New Mexico, Arizona, and Tennessee round out the top six.
