(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 13, 2009 ) Portland, OR – Like many businesses, car dealers are suffering due to the current economic downfall. People are keeping their cars for an average of 9 years before trading it in for a new one.
Willie Fisher, owner of Collision on Wheels, a mobile auto body shop, offers tips to consumers for maintaining their vehicle and avoiding a trip to the body repair shop. “Parking lots are the source of many dents, scratches and abrasions that damage your auto paint finish,” said Fisher. “The best way to protect your vehicle in a parking lot is to park where no one else else does. Parking further away from the entrance reduces your risk of damage while giving you the benefit of exercise, which many American need more of.”
Willie fisher also recommends that people park in a garage or shady area as much as possible to avoid the damage done by our harsh environment. “The hot sun will cause your paint to fade; salt used on roads in the winter speeds up the corrosion process.”
Regular washing and waxing is also good maintenance to keep cars looking new longer. “Wash your car at least once a month to remove dirt, dust, bugs and bird droppings that leave permanent stains,” said Fisher. “Clean moisture dries quickly; dirty moisture causes corrosion. Use a pressure washer to get to the difficult to reach areas, especially under bumpers and in wheel wells where a lot of dirt accumulates. Use a good quality car wax every three months to provide a protective shield.”
Collision on Wheels is a national franchise company who specializes in minor collision and auto paint repair. The company serves a growing market of consumers who don’t have the time to take their vehicle to a traditional auto body shop for minor collision repairs. “Our mobile approach saves consumers time and money as minor dent and scratch repairs and auto painting are completed in one day or less, and the fee is typically less than an insurance company’s deductible,” said Fisher.
Collision on Wheels, We Come to You, is the largest chain of mobile paint and collision repair specialists in the U.S. with nearly 50 metro market locations in the US.
