Although she is lucky to still have her life, a 55 year old Pompano Beach resident was hit by drunk driver on the September 15th. The therapeutic recreational therapist was heading home from work when she was struck by a car on the 4100 block of Federal Highway in Lighthouse Point.
Since being struck the women has been left paralyzed and had to undergo a surgery on her legs and another to stop blood clots.
The 29 year old driver was arrested for DUI and officials are saying that this is his third arrest for the particular crime.
On that very same day, in the middle of September, a Florida Road Ranger was struck by another drunk driver on Interstate 95.
The Road Rangers is an organization that offers free roadside assistance to vehicle on South Florida highways. He was assisting state troopers who were handling several wreck due to the weather when he was struck. The man was taken to a nearby trauma center to be treated for several injuries.
